At Tampa General, we diagnose and treat breast cancer every day with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to fast turnaround times for appointments. In many cases, we can provide same-day results and treatments, from biopsies to minimally invasive breast interventions and excisions performed on an outpatient basis.

Our multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists—including some of the top breast cancer oncologists and surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and many others—utilizes state-of-the-art technology to provide a treatment plan customized to each patient’s individual needs. Our team is at the forefront of advances in breast cancer treatment and designs plans that deliver the best possible outcome and quality of life for our patients.

The Center for Breast Cancer is among the highest volume programs in the state for treating breast cancer patients who require a hospital stay. Our board-certified breast surgeons perform a variety of high-tech, minimally invasive breast cancer procedures with the goal of sparing as much breast tissue as possible and removing all traces of cancer.

Our procedures include oncoplastic surgery and innovative partial breast radiation. In addition, we offer non-invasive axillary nodal staging, a novel staging technique that can be performed without going to the operating room. Our experts are the only ones in the world performing this technique.

Tampa General Hospital has earned “high performing” designation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report for 2021-2022, meaning we are ranked among the top 10% of U.S. hospitals in addition to being among Florida’s best.
