About Jennifer Crabtree

Jennifer Crabtree serves as President of the Tampa Medical & Research District (TMRD) and Senior Vice President at Tampa General Hospital. She leads the strategic vision and development of the TMRD — a health innovation district designed to accelerate breakthroughs, drive economic growth, and foster collaboration. Anchored by Tampa General Hospital, one of the nation’s leading academic health systems, and the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, the TMRD brings together top academic and research institutions, biotechnology companies, startups, entrepreneurs, and investors to position Tampa as a global hub for life sciences innovation. In addition to her role with TMRD, Jennifer oversees all corporate communications across the Tampa General health system.

 

Most recently, Jennifer served as both Vice President of Corporate Communications and Chief of Staff for the Office of the President and CEO of Tampa General. In this role, she drove strategic communications and partnership initiatives across the enterprise to position Tampa General as an industry-leading research and academic-based health system, as well as elevating the unique expertise of the organization’s senior leaders. Additionally, Jennifer facilitated the CEO’s vision for the organization through her leadership of strategic projects. Prior to joining TGH in 2019, Jennifer led the marketing, public relations and community outreach strategies at Jupiter Medical Center.

In addition to her work at Tampa General, Jennifer is an active leader in the Tampa Bay community, currently serving on the board of the Tampa Bay Metropolitan Area YMCA, the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council and the Tampa Bay Downtown Partnership. Previously, Jennifer Crabtree served on the board of OnBikes and actively engaged with the growing startup community as a member of the Young Professionals Board at Embarc Collective.

 

On a continuous journey to build lasting relationships in the community and across the state, Jennifer is a proud member of both the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Tampa Class of 2022 and Leadership Florida’s 2024-2025 Connect Class 14.

Jennifer has earned recognition for her leadership and was most recently named by the Tampa Bay Business Journal (TBBJ) as one of “25 People to Watch in 2026. In 2024, the TBBJ recognized her as a "40 under 40" honoree. Additionally, Jennifer was named a "40 under 40" honoree by The News Service of Florida in 2025.

 

She holds an M.B.A. from the University of South Florida and a B.A. from Florida State University. Jennifer resides in Tampa with her two daughters.
