Preventative Measures

Preventive Care Information for Families

At Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH, we believe in supporting families as they make informed choices about vaccines and preventive care in partnership with their pediatrician. Every child and family is unique, and we are here to provide guidance, resources, and encouragement as you consider what is best for your child’s health.

Vaccines and preventive treatments are important tools in protecting children and communities from serious illness. We encourage families to discuss options with their pediatrician and to use reliable resources when seeking more information.

Key Vaccines & Preventive Treatments

  • Flu (Influenza): Helps protect children and families from seasonal flu, which can be especially serious for young children.
  • RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus): New preventative options are available to reduce the risk of severe RSV illness and death from RSV in infants and young children.
  • Hepatitis B (Hep B): Protects against a virus that can cause serious liver disease.
  • Routine Childhood Vaccines (“Well Vaccines”): These include immunizations recommended throughout childhood to prevent illnesses such as measles, mumps, rubella, polio, and more.
  • Vitamin K: A vitamin given shortly after birth to help prevent serious bleeding problems in infants who have very little vitamin K in their bodies at birth.
