Pediatric Surgery | Tampa General Hospital

Pediatric Surgery

The pediatric surgery team at the Muma Children's Hospital at TGH provides a full range of general and specialized services for infants, children and adolescents, including minimally and non-invasive procedures. Multidisciplinary care is designed to address the needs of children with routine to highly complex conditions occurring from infancy to adulthood, including fetal care consults.

Treatment modalities and conditions we manage include all congenital anomalies of the head, neck, thorax, abdomen and perineum, all solid tumors of childhood, vascular access, pediatric endocrine disorders, pediatric injuries and trauma, and neonatal surgery for congenital and acquired conditions among others.

We provide evaluation and treatment for constructive or corrective surgery to improve the appearance and/or formation of body parts affected by birth defects, injuries, disease, or abnormal growth development.

Tampa General Hospital and USF Health have partnered with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg to expand pediatric general surgery services at the Muma Children's Hospital at TGH. This collaboration enhances the comprehensive pediatric services already offered at TGH and provides expanded access to pediatric general surgery interventions for patients and their families.

Pediatric Surgery Support Services

No matter how complex the surgical procedure may be, Tampa General is dedicated to meeting the psychological, social and developmental needs of our youngest patients.

Child life specialists may go into surgery with children to ease their fears and they’re highly involved through the entire care process. Our comprehensive team of support specialists also includes pediatric social workers, schoolteachers, pediatric occupational and physical therapists, psychologists and case managers among others.

It's because of the level of care and compassion we provide to our pediatric patients and their families that Tampa General was recognized on Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals 2023 list.
