About Courtney Hancock
Courtney Hancock serves as Vice President and Chief of Staff in the Office of the President and CEO at Tampa General Hospital (TGH), one of the nation’s leading not-for-profit academic health systems and the primary teaching hospital for the University of South Florida. A purpose-driven health care leader with nearly two decades of experience, Courtney blends her clinical expertise, executive leadership and strategic vision to advance TGH’s mission and vision.
In her role, Courtney partners closely with the president and CEO and senior leadership to translate vision into action, driving initiatives that improve outcomes, elevate patient and team member experiences, and strengthen the academic health system’s performance. She played a pivotal role in TGH’s recent partnership with the Health Care District of Palm Beach County, expanding access to world-class academic medicine in rural communities.
Before returning to TGH where she began her career, Courtney served as Vice President of Clinical Services for a national assisted living provider, where she led clinical operations. In this role, she oversaw quality, compliance, risk management and operational performance, implementing enterprise-wide systems and training programs that enhanced care delivery, mitigated risk and improved financial outcomes.
Courtney first joined TGH in 2006 as a Labor and Delivery Nurse and advanced into leadership roles including Perinatal Quality Specialist, Nurse Manager and Senior Director of Service Line Clinical Strategy. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her ability to bridge clinical insights with business strategy, empowering teams and building partnerships that drive innovation and growth.
Passionate about leadership development, Courtney is a founding member of LEAD TGH, Tampa General’s leadership enrichment program, which cultivates future leaders through mentorship, professional development, and community engagement. She has spoken on panels at national health care conferences, was named a 2023 Aging Media Future Leader, and currently serves as an Executive Ambassador for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign. She is also deeply committed to giving back and actively supports nonprofit initiatives that serve and advocate for vulnerable populations.
Courtney earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida. She lives in Tampa with her husband, daughter and Great Dane. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, traveling, cheering on her favorite sports teams and finding new ways to bring positivity and purpose into everyday life.
