Tampa General Hospital’s Transplant Houses serve as a ‘home away from home’ for outpatient transplant and ventricular assist device (VAD) patients who must travel long distances for treatment, checkups and testing at the hospital.

Newly transplanted patients can have follow-up visits two to three times a week during the first few weeks post discharge.  Having the transplant houses so close to the TGH campus provides convenient access to TGH’s transplant outpatient services.

The transplant houses each accommodate six adults and features three bedrooms, each with a private bathroom, two living room areas, a kitchen and dining room, and a screened porch.  Tampa General Transplant House bedroomBedrooms have two beds, so a family member or caregiver can also stay.

Transplant patients interested in getting information about criteria to stay at the TGH Transplant Houses should contact their transplant coordinator.
