Tampa, FL (Oct. 28, 2026) – Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has once again earned statewide recognition for excellence in outpatient surgical care, with two of its ambulatory surgery centers named the top two in the Tampa Bay region and among the top 10 in Florida in the America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2027 ranking published by Newsweek.

TGH Surgery Center at Morsani and TGH Brandon Outpatient Surgery Center were recognized among the best ambulatory surgery centers in the state, ranking No. 4 and No. 6, respectively. The recognition reflects Tampa General’s continued focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered surgical care in convenient outpatient settings throughout the Tampa Bay region.

“Patients deserve exceptional care, whether they’re coming to us for a complex procedure at our academic medical center or having surgery at one of our outpatient facilities,” said John Couris, president and CEO of Florida Health Sciences Center | Tampa General. “Having two of our surgery centers recognized among the best in Florida speaks to the caliber of our providers and team members and the work they do every day to take care of our patients. As we grow, we’re bringing Tampa General’s expertise into more communities so patients can access the care they need closer to home.”

Ambulatory surgery centers provide an alternative to traditional hospital-based surgical care for patients undergoing procedures that do not require an overnight hospital stay. These facilities offer patients the convenience of receiving specialized surgical care in an outpatient setting, while supporting efficient care delivery and timely recovery.

As part of Tampa General’s broader ambulatory care network, the TGH Surgery Center at Morsani and the TGH Brandon Outpatient Surgery Center extend the health system’s surgical capabilities into the communities it serves, giving patients more options for accessing care.

“Outpatient surgery is an important part of how we’re meeting the needs of a growing region,” said Adam Smith, executive vice president and chief ambulatory care officer at Tampa General. “Our teams work hard to make every step of the ambulatory care experience, from preparing for surgery through recovery, as safe, seamless and convenient as possible, and this recognition reflects the high standards our teams bring to caring for patients every day.”

For its seventh annual ranking, Newsweek, in partnership with Statista, evaluated more than 6,500 ambulatory surgery centers nationwide to identify the 750 leading facilities in the United States. The ranking is designed to help patients and other stakeholders identify high-performing outpatient surgical facilities and considers several factors, including surgical quality measures, recommendations and assessments from healthcare professionals, patient experience survey results and accreditation data.
