Tampa General Named to Becker’s 2026 List of 100 Great Hospitals in America

Tampa, FL (Aug. 26, 2026) – Tampa General Hospital has once again been named to the list of “100 Great Hospitals in America” by Becker’s Hospital Review, marking its inclusion on every edition of the national list since 2014. Tampa General is the only hospital or health system in West Central Florida and one of just five in the state of Florida recognized on the 2026 list.
The national recognition reflects Tampa General’s continued commitment to delivering world-class patient care, advancing academic medicine and research, and leveraging innovation to improve outcomes and the patient experience.

Tampa General’s inclusion on the list comes amid continued national recognition for the academic health system’s clinical excellence. In the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings, Tampa General was named the No. 1 hospital in the Tampa Bay region for the 11th consecutive year and ranked among the nation’s top 50 hospitals in five specialties: Gastroenterology & GI Surgery; Obstetrics & Gynecology; Diabetes & Endocrinology; Pulmonology & Lung Surgery; and Urology. Tampa General also ranked No. 6 in Florida, making it the highest-ranked hospital on Florida’s west coast and the only hospital in the Tampa Bay region ranked among the state’s top 10.

As the primary teaching hospital for the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, Tampa General and USF Health comprise the Tampa Bay region’s premier academic health system, combining nationally recognized patient care with research, education and innovation to advance new treatments and improve patient outcomes. Tampa General provides some of the state’s most complex care, including serving as the region’s only Level I Trauma Center and one of Florida’s leading transplant centers, while continuing to expand access to academic medicine throughout the state.
The health system is also advancing new models for how care is delivered. The “100 Great Hospitals in America” list celebrates hospitals and health systems that have distinguished themselves by delivering excellence in patient care across specialties and levels of care, while demonstrating a commitment to safety and continuous improvement. In developing the 2026 list, Becker’s considered recognition from organizations and publications including U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, Healthgrades and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, alongside nominations and editorial research. Organizations cannot pay for inclusion, and hospitals are presented alphabetically rather than ranked numerically.
