Tampa, FL (May 28, 2025) – Alisha Ozmeral, senior vice president of finance at USF Tampa General Physicians (USFTGP), a strategic affiliation between the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital (TGH) designed to enhance patient care throughout Florida, has been named a 2025 CFO of the Year by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. This recognition reflects Ozmeral’s outstanding financial leadership, strategic vision and significant contributions to the success of USFTGP and by extension, the entire Tampa Bay health care community.
Ozmeral’s proactive financial management has been instrumental in establishing a solid financial foundation for USFTGP. This foundation enables the organization to effectively manage resources, invest in strategic growth, and strengthen its market position as the region’s only university-affiliated academic medical provider.
“USF Tampa General Physicians stands as an example of the power of academic medicine through our partnership with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine,” said John Couris, president and CEO of Tampa General. “We are incredibly proud to celebrate Alisha and her team's impact on the continued growth and development of USFTGP and, in turn, on our expanding Tampa General network.”
Ozmeral has been instrumental in guiding USF Tampa General Physicians' financial strategy and operations. In her role, she oversees all financial aspects of the organization, including revenue cycle management, accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting. Ozmeral’s primary focus is ensuring that USFTGP physicians have the resources and tools they need to deliver safe and efficient patient care to the over 1,000 physicians and advanced practice providers of both USF Health and Tampa General.
“Alisha's leadership and dedication to USF Tampa General Physicians have long stood out as exceptional,” said Mark Runyon, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Tampa General. “She consistently goes above and beyond, and this recognition is a well-deserved acknowledgement of her contributions on our academic health system and our region’s health care landscape. We are incredibly fortunate to have her on our team.”
Upon the inception of USFTGP, Ozmeral played a pivotal role in establishing the financial infrastructure. She developed a comprehensive budget, forecasting models and reporting systems tailored to the unique needs of the new jointly governed organization. Her leadership was particularly critical in navigating the complexities of integrating separate financial systems and processes from the two founding organizations.
One of her key achievements included developing and subsequently managing a $165 million fund flow reconciliation between the hospital and faculty practice plan. This strategic initiative streamlines financial processes, ensures financial transparency and accountability, and contributes significantly to the long-term sustainability of the partnership between USF and Tampa General.
“I am honored to receive this recognition from the Tampa Bay Business Journal,” said Ozmeral. “As USFTGP has grown, we have continued strengthening the TGH-USF partnership to deliver more value to the patients we serve, and I feel proud to shine a light on our dedicated finance team that often works behind the scenes to make everything we do possible.”
Outside of her role with USFTGP, Ozmeral serves the Tampa Bay community through her role as president-elect for the Academy of the Holy Names alumni board and her membership in Leadership Tampa Bay, a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing leaders with a particular focus on the intricacies of the Tampa Bay region. Additionally, she serves as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of South Florida.
