Tampa, FL (June 19, 2023) – Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has announced that Lijah Lokenauth, vice president of accounting and finance, has been recognized by Tampa Bay Business & Wealth as a 2023 “Up & Comer." Lokenauth’s inclusion in the ongoing special section published quarterly reflects his efforts to transform financial technologies at Tampa General, including implementing new productivity and financial reporting tools.

“Lijah’s work is critical in continuing to shape Tampa General as a health care system with outstanding financial accountability and responsibility,” said John Couris, Tampa General’s president and CEO. “His ingenuity and passion for educating people about the connection between finance and real-world patient care impacts have substantially contributed to our academic health system’s growth, and we are proud to see him recognized by our community.”

Lokenauth joined Tampa General’s financial team in 2018 as a corporate controller and has since grown through the ranks to vice president of accounting and finance. In his leadership role, he oversees the areas of general ledger, reporting, tax, payroll, treasury, grant compliance, accounts payable and decision support. Lokenauth is also responsible for driving robust financial technology transformation within Tampa General.

Over the past year, Lokenauth has played a leading role in Tampa General’s process of certification as a High Reliability Management organization, proactively supporting other leaders in their education on how to reduce the probabilities of error, risk, and harm.

“Lijah is an empathetic, ambitious, and community-minded leader who is not afraid to tackle difficult challenges in a way that effectively minimizes risks and overcomes obstacles,” said Mark Runyon, Tampa General’s executive vice president and chief financial officer. “His colleagues are drawn to his humble straight-forward style, his strong technical competence, and passion for mentorship at all levels of the organization. He is a true team player who encourages collaboration for the success of Tampa General.”

In his position, Lokenauth ensures each member of the Tampa General team understands the intersections between finance and patient care. To advance the professional development of colleagues throughout the organization, he led the development and facilitation of a health care financial literacy session, which educated Tampa General team members on the most effective ways to communicate financial data, interpret results and develop action plans to drive optimization.

Additionally, Lokenauth has successfully built trust across the organization by encouraging open dialogue and supporting his team with opportunities to amplify their strengths and reaffirm their drive. As an executive and young professional, Lokenauth has integrated the principles of intentional relationship building and communicating with transparency into his management style.

“I am honored to receive this recognition and am proud of Tampa General’s ongoing commitment to enhancing financial literacy for all team members,” Lokenauth said. “As an organization, our top priority is delivering world-class care to our community. Demonstrating how finance empowers us to inspire and engage our team, is a part of that journey.”
