TGH Heart & Vascular Institute Opens Aortic Dissection Clinic

Tampa General Hospital’s (TGH) Heart & Vascular Institute has launched a dedicated Aortic Dissection Clinic, expanding access to comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients with complex aortic disease.

The program is designed to support patients across the full continuum of care — from diagnosis through long-term management — by integrating advanced imaging, individualized treatment planning, and ongoing surveillance. Diagnostic capabilities include high-resolution CT, MRI, and ultrasound, supported by standardized imaging protocols to ensure consistent monitoring and early detection of disease progression.

Advanced Treatment, Tailored to Each Patient

The clinic offers a full spectrum of surgical and endovascular therapies, including minimally invasive stent graft procedures and complex open aortic repairs. Each treatment plan is tailored to the patient’s specific condition and risk profile, with input from a multidisciplinary team.

Patients also benefit from structured long-term follow-up, including routine imaging and clinical evaluation to track aortic health over time. Medical management is coordinated closely with referring providers, with a focus on:

  • Blood pressure control
  • Medication optimization
  • Individualized lifestyle guidance

Experience You Can Trust

TGH Heart & Vascular Institute performs more than 400 thoracic and abdominal aortic procedures annually, providing patients with access to a high-volume program and experienced clinical team. The Aortic Dissection Clinic brings together:

  • Cardiac and vascular surgeons
  • Interventional radiologists
  • Anesthesiologists
  • Specialized nursing and care teams

To further enhance patient outcomes, the program incorporates innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence and 3D modeling, to support advanced procedural planning and improve safety.

Seamless Coordination for Referring Providers

Through a highly collaborative care model, the clinic ensures clear communication, coordinated care, and continuity for both patients and referring physicians. This approach reinforces TGH’s commitment to prevention, timely intervention, and improved long-term outcomes.
