Join Dr. Yassmeen Abdel-Aty and Megan Urbano, CCC-SLP, as they explore the role of a multidisciplinary voice clinic, discuss the importance of voice health and explain when professional evaluation for voice changes is recommended.
Dr. Yassmeen Abdel-Aty is a Head and Neck Surgeon specializing in voice, swallowing, and airway disorders. She completed her surgical training at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, followed by advanced fellowship training at the joint Columbia/Cornell program. Dr. Abdel-Aty serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of South Florida.
Megan Urbano, CCC-SLP, is a bilingual speech language pathologist at the USF Health Voice Center. She completed her Clinical Fellowship in Voice and Upper Airway Disorders at the USC Voice Center in Los Angeles. Megan holds a Bachelor of Music in Opera Vocal Performance from Westminster Choir College and a Master’s in Speech Pathology with a voice concentration from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston. Her clinical interests include treating voice disorders in professional voice users — such as singers and voice actors — as well as providing gender-affirming voice services.

Dr. Stephanie Watts is a Researcher and Speech Language Pathologist at the University of South Florida (USF). She earned an undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology at Florida State University and master’s degree in Speech Pathology at USF. Dr. Watts earned her doctoral degree at USF under the direction of Dr. Emily Plowman in 2017 and was promoted to faculty in Medicine. She currently conducts research and sees patients clinically at the USF Voice Center within Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.
