Advanced Practice Council | Tampa General Hospital

The Advanced Practice Council is made up of advanced practice providers (APPs) from all over the Tampa General Hospital organization, including inpatient and outpatient locations.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Advanced Practice Council is to provide a forum to discuss issues and a venue to disseminate clinical and committee updates that impact APPs across the TGH system. Our shared governance model unites APPs while fostering relationships with the medical and nursing leadership teams.

We provide APPs with leadership opportunities to engage in hospital, service line and department committees with the goal of increasing APP presence and empowering dialogue and decision making about APP roles.

Leadership Opportunities

The council is a voluntary commitment with the option for APPs to hold a leadership position as chair, co-chair, secretary and treasurer. The chair and co-chair positions are selected by peers and are two-year commitments, whereas the secretary and treasurer positions are one-year commitments. Committing to the Advanced Practice Council allows APPs to demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond their clinical responsibilities and reflect their desire for professional development.

The TGH Advanced Practice Provider Conference

In addition, the council hosts the TGH Advanced Practice Provider Conference which is held annually and is approved for CME/CEU credits. This event serves to educate, inspire and celebrate TGH’s APPs, providing a space to connect with others and hear from expert speakers. Topics covered during the conference often include APP-specific information from various medical specialties, legislative updates and news about the Advanced Practice Council and the overall TGH organization.
