Tampa General Hospital’s Parathyroid & Thyroid Institute provides world-class care to patients with parathyroid cancer. This rare disease forms in one or more of the parathyroid glands, which are four rice-sized organs located at the base of the neck.

Tampa General Hospital is one of only three academic centers in the region to offer comprehensive head and neck oncologic care. Collaboration between our specialized otolaryngologists (ENTs) and neurosurgeons allows us to provide world-class care for both benign and malignant tumors of the skull base.

Our institute also offers diagnosis and treatment to patients with cancers throughout the head and neck region, including the oral cavity, larynx, advanced skin, sinus, salivary gland, HPV-related cancers, as well as thyroid and parathyroid tumors. Tampa General is among a few programs to feature ENTs with fellowship training in head and neck cancer, allowing us to perform the most complex surgical procedures on the most challenging patients in the region.

Tampa General Hospital's Ear, Nose & Throat Institute and Neuroscience Institute have assembled an incredible team of experts in the Skull Base Surgery Center. Comprising ear, nose and throat surgeons, neurosurgeons, neurovascular interventionalists, ophthalmologists, oral maxilla-facial surgeons, endocrinologists and many other specialists, the team expertly performs skull base neurosurgery for any of the conditions that may require it.

At Tampa General, our heart failure program provides comprehensive services to improve heart failure care across all phases of a patient’s care journey – from prevention to end-stage treatment options. Since 1988, our cardiologists have cared for individuals with end-stage heart disease, providing the most advanced therapies like performing first successful heart transplant in the state. Today, we have a successful ventricular assist device (VAD) program and our Transplant Institute is one of the busiest and best in the country. All candidates for transplant are evaluated by the Heart Failure Center of Excellence to determine suitability for ventricular assist device (VAD) therapy and heart transplant.
