Emergency Orthopedic Care at Tampa General Hospital
Tampa General Hospital’s orthopedic trauma care center provides emergency orthopedic care for a variety of acute conditions, including torn ligaments, torn rotator cuffs, and fractured bones. We also treat complex conditions that are not related to traumatic injuries, such as orthopedic cancers and bone or joint infections, and can perform elective surgeries for patients seeking corrective care for an existing problem. Our orthopedic surgeons are board-certified and highly experienced in the following procedures:
- Limb-sparing surgeries
- Deformity correction surgeries
- Complex foot and ankle surgeries
- Total ankle replacement
- Upper and lower extremity fracture repairs
- Replantation/reattachment of severed fingers or hand due to amputation
- Surgical correction of nonunions and malunions
- Pelvis, hip, and acetabulum reconstructions
- Surgical interventions for post-traumatic arthritis
Due to our high surgical volume and notable experience with complex orthopedic operations, we are a regional referral center for orthopedic surgery. Our orthopedic trauma center is a 34-bed unit staffed by a multispecialty team of physicians, surgeons, registered nurses, physical and occupational therapists, social workers and care coordinators, ensuring that patients have convenient access to all the services they need for the duration of their recovery.
Tampa General Hospital has been named one of America's Best Hospitals for Orthopedics by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, we are proud to maintain The Joint Commission's Gold Seal accreditation for orthopedic trauma.
If you’ve experienced an orthopedic trauma and are in need of immediate medical attention, Tampa General Hospital’s emergency department can provide you with the care you need. Patients who require emergency orthopedic care are transferred to our orthopedic trauma unit from the emergency department.
