Global Emerging Diseases Institute: Medical Leadership

Dr. Seetha Lakshmi serves as Tampa General Hospital's Medical Director of the Global Emerging Diseases Institute, Associate Hospital Epidemiologist, and a consultant for TGH Prevention Response Outreach. In addition, Dr. Lakshmi is an assistant professor for the Division of Infectious Diseases and International Medicine at USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Lakshmi completed her fellowship in infection diseases with the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is board certified in both infectious disease and internal medicine.

The Global Emerging Diseases Institute is a true collaboration between Tampa General Hospital and USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 154,000 lower-extremity amputations are performed each year in adults with diabetic-associated conditions.
