Our Rehabilitation Team
TGH DeSoto's rehabilitation team includes licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, and PT and OT assistants. We accept Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance plans.
Occupational Therapy Services
Occupational therapy helps you regain the skills needed to manage daily activities. Our therapists work with you to restore function and independence following injury, illness or surgery.
Occupational therapy at TGH DeSoto addresses:
- Stroke rehabilitation and post-stroke upper extremity management
- Activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing and meal preparation
- Hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, including injuries and post-surgical care
- Carpal tunnel screening and splinting
- Adaptive equipment training and home modification guidance
- Work reintegration and functional activities training
Speech Therapy Services
TGH DeSoto's speech/language pathologists provide evaluation and treatment for patients experiencing speech, language and swallowing difficulties. We serve both children and adults.
Speech therapy services include treatment for:
- Stroke rehabilitation
- Parkinson's disease
- Aphasia and dysarthria
- Expressive and receptive communication disorders
- Dysphagia (swallowing difficulties)
- Cognitive-communication impairments following stroke or brain injury
Physical Therapy Services
TGH DeSoto's physical therapists provide neurologic and orthopedic rehabilitation for patients recovering from injury, surgery or neurologic conditions.
Neurologic Rehabilitation
We treat patients with conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nervous system, including:
- Stroke and traumatic brain injury
- Multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson's disease
- Spinal cord injuries
- Balance and vestibular disorders
- Developmental delay
Orthopedic Rehabilitation
Our orthopedic services address injuries and conditions affecting the muscles, joints and bones, including:
- Post-surgical rehabilitation, including joint replacement and rotator cuff repair
- Back and neck injuries and surgeries, with back safety education
- Shoulder, knee, foot and ankle injuries and surgeries
- Sports injuries and knee injury prevention
- Osteoporosis management

Pediatric Rehabilitation Services
TGH DeSoto's Pediatric Rehabilitation Program serves children from birth through age 18. Our pediatric therapists provide physical, occupational and speech therapy for young patients and their families. Pediatric therapy services address:
- Developmental delays and gross and fine motor milestones
- Sensory processing disorders and sensory integration
- Autism spectrum disorder testing and therapies
- Cerebral palsy and other neurologic conditions
- Speech, language and communication disorders
- Oral motor skills and feeding and swallowing difficulties
- Orthopedic injuries and postural dysfunction
- Activities of daily living
