Tampa General Hospital’s Laboratory Services provides a full range of testing, from routine blood work to highly specialized testing available at very few facilities, for both adult and pediatric patients by highly trained phlebotomists – staff trained to draw blood from a patient.
Special Directions for Testing
Some tests that require fasting for 12 hours prior include the following.
- Lipid panel
Fasting or other special instructions need to be provided by the ordering physician. TGH can provide general testing information, but it is the patient’s responsibility to speak with their physician regarding fasting or other special instructions.
Results are sent to the ordering physicians and routine tests are available 24 hours after collection. Patients can request test results by completing a release form from medical records or by signing up for MyChart, TGH’s electronic medical record.
TGH Laboratory Services accepts most major health plans. For more information, click here. Patients will receive a bill for laboratory services from Tampa General Hospital, but may also receive a bill from our pathology group, Ruffulo, Hooper and Associates.
