Babcock Ranch, Punta Gorda and North Fort Myers

Babcock Ranch operates its own schools built around project-based, environmental learning. The Babcock Neighborhood School serves kindergarten through grade 8. Babcock High School, which opened for the 2022-23 school year, features 26 classrooms, science labs and assembly areas. Both schools deliver a "greenSTEAM" curriculum, integrating science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics through an environmental lens.

Families in Punta Gorda and North Fort Myers are served by Charlotte County Public Schools and Lee County Schools, with a full range of elementary, middle and high school options.

South Florida State College operates a satellite campus in the county. Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida SouthWestern State College, New College of Florida, the Ringling College of Art and Design, the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus, Warner University and Webber International University are all within driving distance.

In November 2025, the DeSoto Memorial Hospital Board approved a proposal for Tampa General to assume operations of DeSoto Memorial Hospital under a 49-year lease agreement.
