Frahn brings more than 25 years of pediatric and women’s health leadership to advance innovation, access and world-class care across the institutes.

Tampa, FL (Aug. 4, 2025) – Tampa General Hospital (TGH) has named Sarah Frahn, MBA, MSN, RN, NE-BC, as its new vice president of Women & Children’s Services, bringing nationally recognized leadership to one of the hospital’s most vital areas.

Frahn joins Tampa General from Seattle Children’s Hospital — ranked among the nation’s top 10 children’s hospitals—where she led high-volume surgical programs and drove measurable improvements in access, efficiency, patient satisfaction and team engagement. As a former ICU nurse with deep experience in transplant coordination and complex specialty care, Frahn has also held leadership roles at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange, Calif., where she supported enterprise-wide innovation and expansion.

“Sarah’s experience leading transformational change in complex academic medical centers will accelerate the momentum we’ve built in delivering world-class care to women and children across our region,” said Dr. Patricia Emmanuel, chief of the Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH and Lewis A. Barness professor and chair, Department of Pediatrics, USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. “She shares our commitment to innovation, equity and building healthier futures for families.”

Frahn’s decision to join Tampa General is both professional and personal. Her 7-year-old son has congenital kidney disease and will one day require a transplant.

“As both a mother and a health care executive, I could not imagine moving to a hospital that wasn’t capable of caring for my son,” Frahn said. “Tampa General’s preeminent reputation — particularly as the nation’s top transplant center by volume and as the region’s only academic health system — was a driving factor in our decision. This isn’t just a job. It’s a mission I share, helping families access the highest quality care.”

Frahn is known for fostering data-driven, collaborative teams and building high-performance environments where care and innovation thrive. At Tampa General, she will oversee continued growth and national prominence for the Muma Children’s Hospital at TGH and the academic health system’s Women’s Institute, which was recently ranked top 5 in the nation and No. 1 in Florida for obstetrics and gynecology by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals 2025-2026.

Dr. Anjali Kaimal, chief of the Tampa General Women’s Institute and James M. Ingram professor and chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, looks forward to Frahn’s arrival and Tampa General’s ongoing investment in women’s health. “Sarah brings a depth of experience and a track record of progress in complex environments. With her leadership, we will continue to elevate care for women and their families through every stage of life — with compassion, precision, and innovation.”

Originally from southern Ontario, Canada, Frahn holds dual master’s degrees in business administration and nurse executive leadership and is board-certified as a nurse executive.

“Tampa General is nationally recognized for innovation — and we’re just getting started,” Frahn said. “I’m honored to join a team so deeply committed to improving lives and driving real, sustainable change for the families we serve.”
