With support from the Florida Department of Health, Division of Children’s Medical Services, Tampa General Hospital (TGH) established the Behavioral Health Hub (BHH) to expand access to mental health care for children and adolescents (ages 0–21). The Hub integrates behavioral health services into primary and specialty care settings across Florida.
TGH is a proud member of the Florida Pediatric Mental Health Collaborative (FPMHC), a statewide network of medical and academic institutions that includes:
- Florida International University (FIU)
- Florida State University (FSU)
- Nemours Children’s Health
- University of Miami (UM)
- University of Florida (UF)

- Hands-on administrative and clinical assistance for providers
- Ongoing Training and Skill Development:

Why It Matters
Access to mental health care is a growing concern for families and providers across Florida. By embedding behavioral health services into pediatric care, the Behavioral Health Hub addresses critical gaps in support, ensuring that children and adolescents receive timely, effective, and equitable care. Here's why this work is so important:
- Trusted First Contact: Over 80% of guardians seek behavioral health guidance from their child’s pediatrician first.
- Under-Resourced Providers: Pediatricians often lack the tools and support to manage mental health concerns effectively.
- Bridging the Gap: The Hub empowers providers to deliver mental health care directly in primary care settings.
- Equitable Access: Services are available to all eligible children (ages 0–21) with no insurance restrictions.
- Proven Collaboration: Integrated care models improve outcomes through real-time psychiatric consultation and shared decision-making.
