The USF/TGH Hospital Medicine Conference invites physicians, advanced practice providers, residents, fellows, students, nurses, pharmacists, and interprofessional healthcare professionals to share their scholarly work, quality improvement initiatives, innovative projects, and clinical experiences.
Accepted submissions will be showcased during the conference on March 4, 2027, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Tampa Downtown Convention Center.

Submission Guidelines
- Abstracts are limited to 300 words
- All submissions must represent original work
- Include title, authors, affiliations, and presenting author contact information
- Patient identifiers must be removed
- Submissions may be selected for poster or oral presentation
- At least one author should be available to present if accepted

Who can submit an abstract?
Submissions are welcome from healthcare professionals, trainees, students, and interprofessional team members interested in hospital medicine.
Can residents and students submit abstracts?
Yes. We strongly encourage submissions from residents, fellows, medical students, nursing students, pharmacy trainees, and other learners.
What is the submission deadline?
All submissions must be received by November 15, 2026.
What types of submissions are accepted?
Submissions are accepted in three categories:
- Clinical Vignettes
- Research, Quality Improvement & Operations
- Creative Scholarship & Innovation
Is there a word limit?
Yes. Abstracts may not exceed 300 words.
Can I submit work that has been presented elsewhere?
Previously presented work may be considered if it remains highly relevant and has not been formally published. Additional details will be requested during submission.
Are multidisciplinary projects encouraged?
Absolutely. We strongly encourage collaborative submissions involving physicians, APPs, nurses, pharmacists, researchers, educators, and other healthcare professionals.
When will authors be notified of acceptance?
Authors will be notified of acceptance decisions after the review process is completed; we anticipate this by early January 2027.
Will accepted abstracts be presented as posters or oral presentations?
The Scientific Review Committee will determine the most appropriate presentation format based on reviewer scores and available program space.
Can I submit more than one abstract?
Yes. Authors may submit multiple abstracts across any of the submission categories.
Because accepted posters participate in the conference poster competition, authors should ensure that each accepted poster is staffed by a presenter during the designated judging period. If you are submitting multiple posters, please plan accordingly so that each poster can be represented and evaluated by judges.
Are there awards for submitted work?
Yes. Posters will compete for conference awards and will be judged on content, visual clarity, and oral presentation.
Award recipients will be announced during the Poster Reception on March 4, 2027, at the conclusion of the judging period and poster viewing session.
Do I need to be present during judging?
Yes. To be eligible for poster awards, accepted posters should be staffed by a presenter during the designated judging period.
Authors who submit multiple accepted posters are responsible for ensuring that each poster is represented during judging. Co-authors, collaborators, or designated presenters may assist in presenting multiple posters.
How will posters be judged?
Accepted posters will be evaluated by conference judges using a standardized scoring rubric. Judging will consider:
- Content quality and significance
- Innovation and relevance to hospital medicine
- Visual clarity and poster design
- Oral presentation skills and ability to discuss the work
Do I need to register for the conference if my abstract is accepted?
Yes. At least one author should register and attend the conference to present accepted work.
