Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can you help me make my business safer?

As an academic medical center, Tampa General Hospital is home to the leading experts in infectious disease and infection prevention. Our experts can consult with you to design recommendations and a safety plan tailored specifically to your organization. Whether you’re concerned about your employees or visits from the public or vendors, we can evaluate the best ways to ensure social distancing, eliminate potential “hot spots” for infection transmission, and make staying safe easier for everyone at your location.

I already have a plan. How can you help me?

We can review your plan and visit your site to evaluate your current plan and make recommendations to fill in the gaps. Our goal is to help you protect your employees and visiting members of the public or vendors.

I don’t have a plan at all. Can you help me too?

Yes. Navigating a pandemic is new to most businesses, but our experts have been fighting infectious diseases for more than 30 years. We can design a practical, actionable plan to help you prevent infections and reduce the risks of disease transmission.

What experience do your experts have?

Our Infection Prevention team is led by a nurse with 30+ years of experience working in Infection Prevention and Control and physician epidemiologists. Both have extensive training and experience in infection prevention in diverse settings. Our director of infection prevention has received several national certifications and awards for her work. Our physician epidemiologists are trained in pandemic response and infection prevention on a global scale.

Are you working with other businesses to improve safety protocols?

Yes. Our team of experts just completed a plan for the Florida Aquarium and are in conversations with other large organizations to improve their safety protocols. This engagement occurred before the aquarium re-opened to the public in a limited capacity and provided them with the confidence levels they needed to do so. Our recommendations helped the aquarium make smart decisions about how to help visitors have a positive experience while ensuring safety of their staff and visitors.

What will your experts do?

Our experts will review your existing plans or help you write a plan, as well as make site visits to evaluate your location and identify what changes you need to ensure safe employee and client interactions, enact better sanitization standards and reduce overall risk of disease transmission. We also can:

  • Educate your staff on practical, actionable infection prevention steps
  • Support you on an ongoing basis if additional questions arise
  • Recommend concrete improvement measures that you can take via a written report.

How much will it cost?

Each organization’s needs are different. We will discuss your needs and provide you with a detailed site survey proposal, infection control plan and an estimate of our charges. A 50 percent retainer will be obtained before our on-site visit.

How much will it cost to implement your recommendations?

While some measures to improve safety, such as limiting seating capacity in a restaurant, are costly, we can recommend other changes that can improve safety without adding cost. In some cases, we’ve been able to recommend changes that are actually less expensive – and just as safe –depending on the needs of the organization.

What if I’m not located in Tampa Bay?

As one of Florida’s leading academic medical centers, we work to improve health and safety across Florida…and sometimes beyond. No matter where you are, get in touch. We’re ready to help you.

How do I contact you?

Just fill out this form on the TGH website and we will get in touch with you. Or call us at (813) 660—TPRO.
