Cardiac Imaging Center of Excellence

Cardiovascular imaging services at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) have experienced tremendous growth over the past year. As a dedicated Cardiovascular Imaging Center of Excellence, the program is focused on providing world-class quality care.

ADVANCED CT-DERIVED FRACTIONAL FLOW RESERVE (FFR) TECHNOLOGY
TGH’s Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI) has significantly expanded its cardiac imaging capabilities with the implementation of CT-derived Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) technology, marking a substantial advancement in non-invasive cardiac diagnostics.

This technology enables clinicians to evaluate both anatomical stenosis and its functional significance, particularly valuable for intermediate lesions (30-70% stenosis). A key advantage of CT FFR is its ability to streamline the diagnostic pathway for patients presenting with chest pain.

The implementation of CT FFR technology demonstrate TGH’s commitment to providing comprehensive diagnostic information while minimizing unnecessary invasive testing. Physicians can now order CT imaging with the FFR option, receiving detailed anatomical and functional data to guide clinical decision-making, particularly for patients with intermediate-risk findings where traditional imaging alone may be inconclusive.
