Virtual Behavioral Health FAQs

What do I do if I feel I am in immediate danger of self-harm?

This is considered an emergency. You should immediately dial 911 for assistance.

Do I have to schedule an appointment, or can I just call and get the next available time?

You can access the Behavioral Health service by downloading the TGH Virtual Health mobile app. Request a visit through the app and select the Teladoc Behavioral Health service. When requesting a video appointment, you pick your preferred appointment time, followed by two other available times to propose to the provider. The provider can either accept the time you proposed or propose other times to you to get the consult scheduled. If a provider needs to propose a new time, they use the information from the consult request to propose a suitable time. You can either accept the proposed time or suggest a new time to start the process over. You can request an appointment as early as 72 hours in the future. Our providers will respond to your appointment request within 48 hours.

What type of behavioral health specialists does Teladoc have?

Psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, clinical social workers, and therapists (marriage and family).

Can I talk to the same therapist/psychiatrist every time?

Yes. You can choose to see the same specialist or a different one. It’s your choice.

How long is the typical behavioral health visit?

Our first-time Behavioral Health visits average 45 minutes. Psychiatry visits vary in length based on the patient need.

How much does a typical visit cost?
Pricing
Psychologist (initial visit) $200/session
Psychiatrist (ongoing visit) $95/session
Psychiatrist, licensed clinical social worker, counselor or therapist $85/session

What should I expect during my visit?

After completing a quick intake assessment, you will have a conversation with the Behavioral Health professional just as if you were in person. At the end of the visit, the provider will schedule a follow up if the individual specialist deems necessary. At this time, only the next visit can be scheduled.

How secure is the communication line and who retains my medical records?

All medical records are kept in a secure environment and Teladoc/TGH Virtual Health does not share the information with anyone outside of the patient’s specific request or as required by law.

If you would like, your Teladoc mental health provider will send documentation of your treatment to your primary care provider for your medical records. You can make this request in writing or by phone to your Teladoc provider; however, you must provide written approval to the Teladoc provider to release your records.
