    1. Ultrasound physics and knobology
    2. How to obtain point of care ultrasound cardiac windows in the evaluation of cardiac pathology (LV function. RV function, tamponade)
    3. How to obtain point of care thoracic windows in the evaluation of pulmonary pathology (pleural effusion, pulmonary edema, pneumothorax, consolidation)
    4. Putting it all together: how to apply POCUS applications in the clinical setting (a case based approach)
  2. Attendance of the 4-hour hands-on scanning course

Providers who complete the pre-coursework and hands-on scanning course will receive a letter detailing what the course covered and how many exams were completed that may be used towards future POCUS privilege requirements.

  • Identify the key components and recommended sequence for conducting a focused cardiac ultrasound exam.
  • Distinguish the sonographic features of reduced ejection fraction, pulmonary embolism, and pericardial effusion.
