Currently, 25% of adults in Tampa report engaging in sedentary activity, reflecting the city’s growing need for commitment to better health and wellness. The TampaWell Champion Program addresses this need by inviting organizations to showcase their dedication to health equity, inclusivity, and corporate social responsibility.
Why be recognized as a TampaWell Champion organization?
Becoming a TampaWell Champion is a mark of distinction, signifying an organization’s commitment to fostering health and well-being for employees and the broader community. Organizations identified as TampaWell Champions receive the TampaWell Champion Seal to be recognized for their dedication to promoting physical activity, healthy eating, mental wellness, and creating a positive work environment that enhances employee morale and productivity. By participating in wellness initiatives and supporting health-related causes, these organizations are fostering a culture of health.
Being a TampaWell Champion approved organization means actively contributing to the betterment of the Tampa Bay community. These organizations collaborate on projects aimed at improving health outcomes for all residents, particularly vulnerable populations. By addressing social determinants of health, advocating for public health policies, and promoting environmental sustainability, TampaWell Champion organizations demonstrate a strong commitment to health equity and inclusivity. This recognition not only strengthens community ties but also enhances the organization's reputation as a leader in corporate social responsibility and community engagement.

TampaWell Champion Criteria
To be a TampaWell Champion, organizations must meet the following criteria:
- Community Engagement: Actively participates in initiatives promoting wellness and supporting health-related causes within the community.
- Promotion of Healthy Lifestyles: Leads efforts to encourage physical activity, healthy eating, and overall well-being through campaigns, programs, and community activities.
- Support for Vulnerable Populations: Demonstrates commitment to vulnerable groups within the community, such as low-income families, seniors, and individuals with chronic health conditions, by providing targeted wellness programs and resources.
- Addressing Social Determinants of Health: Works to improve social determinants of health by advocating for policies/programs that enhance access to housing, employment, education, or nutritious food.
- Environment Stewardship: Promotes environmental sustainability practices contributing to community health (e.g., clean air, green spaces, safe water).
- Health Equity and Inclusion: Prioritizes health equity by ensuring wellness initiatives are accessible, culturally relevant, and inclusive.
- Advocacy for Public Health Policies: Supports and advocates for public policies that improve community wellness (e.g., smoke-free ordinances, healthy food initiatives, active transportation).
- Community Empowerment: Empowers community members by providing opportunities for education, skill-building, and leadership in health and wellness areas.
In addition, collaboration with TampaWell is a key requirement. Your organization must have worked with TampaWell to promote wellness and improve the health and well-being of the Tampa Bay community during the current or prior year.
Application Information and Timeline
If your organization meets the eligibility criteria, you’re invited to apply to become a TampaWell Champion! Below are the important dates and steps to guide you through the application process:
- Application Opens: October 1, 2025
- Application Deadline: November 31, 2025
- Review Period: December 2025
- Approval Notifications: Approved Champions will receive communications in January 2026
