Tampa General Hospital and the American Heart Association

Life is Why

TGH is a sponsor of the AHA Tampa Bay's Life is Why CampaignTampa General Hospital is the proud sponsor of the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Tampa Bay Life is Why campaign, and we are excited to bring the Life is Why message to our community.

Life is why touches everything the AHA does. And it aligns with TGH’s mission of wanting to see our community (and beyond) live long, healthy lives with loved ones. As a Life is Why sponsor, TGH works with the American Heart Association to raise awareness about the warning signs of cardiovascular diseases and stroke in the Tampa Bay area through events, social media and traditional media. Ultimately, through our collaboration, we want to have a positive impact on our community and save lives.

Social media plays a large role in bringing the Life is Why message to our community. Every month, the AHA and TGH host two different social media activities.

#TGHTuesday takes place every Tuesday on the American Heart Association Tampa Bay’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The purpose of this activity is to bring heart health and wellness messaging to the community in an effort to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, coworkers, families and friends. Content ranges from heart-healthy recipes and tips on heart disease prevention to local stories of survival.

Also taking place once a month is the #TGHTakeover. Falling on a different day every month, one TGH employee takes of the HeartTampaBay Instagram account for the day. This is a fun, engaging way to introduce the lifesavers at TGH to the Tampa Bay community. Throughout the past year we’ve had nurses, doctors, dietitians and even our Aeromed team host the #TGHTakeover.

At TGH, we constantly strive for our patients to have the best quality of life and we do everything we can to enable you to do more than you thought possible – this could mean brushing your teeth by yourself for the first time in two months, lifting your grandchild after hip surgery, or running a marathon after surviving a stroke.

So today we ask you: What are goals? What is YOUR why?

Whether that reason is spending time with your children, hugging your grandchild or laughing with friends, we want to help you to take steps to be the best YOU.
