Tampa General Hospital’s Cardiovascular Center has six cardiac catheterization laboratories and seven interventional radiology suites in over 77,000 square-feet of dedicated space.
TGH has eight operating rooms outfitted for cardiac surgery. In addition, TGH’s Heart Valve Center includes a hybrid operating room, which functions like a catheterization lab but has all the capabilities of a traditional operating room, along with advanced, high-resolution imaging equipment. Designed with patient comfort in mind, the 47 pre- and post-procedure rooms have private bathrooms and are equipped with televisions and telephones.

Additionally, The American College of Cardiology awarded its Heart Failure and Advanced Heart Failure Accreditation to Tampa General Hospital for planning and organizing the delivery of care in a systematic manner that supports adherence to evidence-based guidelines and quality initiatives. TGH has also received Chest Pain (with Primary PCI) Accreditation because of our on-call team ̶ made up of cardiac cath lab staff and an interventional cardiologist ̶ who arrive at the facility within 30 minutes of STEMI activation. TGH has mapped our STEMI processes to maximize efficiencies which lead to quicker treatment and improved outcomes. TGH was most recently awarded full Atrial Fibrillation with Electrophysiology Services Accreditation status for its expertise and commitment to quality patient care.
