World-Class Gynecology Cancer Treatment

Gynecologic Cancer TreatmentTampa General Hospital’s gynecology oncology program is one of the most comprehensive cancer care programs in the state of Florida. As an academic center with an experienced team of surgeons, physicians, nurses, radiologists, oncologists, intensivists and other medical professionals, we can care for even the most medically complex patients.

Additionally, our all-encompassing approach to cancer treatment allows us to offer services not found at other cancer centers, such as:

Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC)

Ours is the first center in the area doing large volumes of a treatment called hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). All visible tumors are removed immediately prior to HIPEC. During the procedure, a surgeon delivers and circulates a heated chemotherapy solution throughout the abdominal cavity to kill any remaining cancer cells.

Palliative Medicine

Our program is the only one the state to offer palliative medicine as part of gynecologic cancer care, and few cancer care programs have it at all. Focused on providing an excellent quality of life for patients, our palliative care program helps patients cope and be comfortable throughout long journey of diagnosis and treatment, and includes:

  • Pain, nausea, depression, anxiety and other symptom management for the patient
  • Psychosocial management for the patient and their family
  • Non-pharmacological options, including meditation

Additional Treatment Options

Other treatments for gynecologic cancers include:

  • Standard intraperitoneal chemotherapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Chemoembolization

We Define Medicine
