October 15, 2012 (Tampa, FL) - This is the exact Citation that was read by Colonel Robert F. Rocco, USF, MSC, Commander, 6th Medical Group on October 5, 2012 to Ron Hytoff, president and CEO of Tampa General Hospital, at the graduation of the recent class of Air Force Nurse Transition students at Tampa General Hospital: “For more than 15 years, Mr. Ron Hytoff has provided tremendous leadership to the Tampa community as President and Chief Executive Officer of Tampa General Hospital by providing world-class health care supporting more than 200,000 military beneficiaries and their families who live in and around the Tampa area. Mr. Hytoff responded to the Air Force Medical Services critical need for additional training opportunities with the establishment of the Nurse Transition Program at Tampa General Hospital. In less than a year, this state-of-the art curriculum combined Air Force expectations with Tampa General’s world-class staff by providing more than 20,000 clinical hours of training for 50 Air Force nurses, preparing them for the rigors of their first operational assignments. Additionally, Mr. Hytoff held the distinction of Honorary Commander, Sixth Medical Group in appreciation of his steadfast support to the military medical community. He partnered with the military to establish medical currency platforms for Air Force surgeons, multi-service field medics, ambulance crews and MacDill’s 750-person Sixth Medical Group staff. The unwavering dedication to service Mr. Hytoff exhibited throughout his time at Tampa General Hospital and Sixth Medical Group Honorary Commander served as a standard of care for others to emulate throughout the Tampa Community, left a lasting impression on MacDill Air Force Base and has brought great credit to himself and the United States Air Force.”
