Tampa General Hospital named to Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals list

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa General Hospital is among 226 US hospitals to make Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2019 list.

TGH is the only hospital in Tampa Bay – and one of six hospitals in Florida – on the list.

One thousand hospitals were selected based on:

  • Recommendations from medical professionals, such as doctors, nurses and hospital managers
  • Patient survey results
  • Key Performance Indicators on quality of treatment and other measures

According to Newsweek, the hospitals on the list are at the forefront of adapting to new challenges while providing top-notch patient care.

“This guide helps Newsweek readers discover the ways leading hospitals—close to home and around the world—are shaping the future of medicine,” Newsweek said.

This is the latest among several accolades for Tampa General Hospital, including:

  • U.S. News & World Report ranks TGH as the #1 hospital in Tampa Bay, with national ranking in six specialties.
  • Becker’s Healthcare, a leading source of business and legal information for healthcare executives, recently named TGH as one of the 100 Great Hospitals in America for 2019 – the sixth year in a row for this distinction.
