Cristopher Cutts was born in Tampa General Hospital's Jennifer Leigh Muma Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) three months early and with only 2/3 of his intestines fully formed. Doctors performed emergency surgery on his 3 ½ pound body and were able to rebuild his intestines so that he could function properly, saving his life. Cutts spent the next few months recovering in the TGH NICU alongside his mother and newly formed TGH family of nurses and caregivers.
Now, at 27 years old, Cutts is in school and also has a photography business. He enjoys returning to TGH to take photos of the hospital and surrounding downtown area. He says he is grateful to the compassionate doctors and nurses at TGH who not only gave him the gift of health, but also supported his family during a very difficult time. His mother still remembers the names of their NICU nurses and thinks of them fondly.
