KIDCare: Sick child day care
Tampa General Hospital’s KIDCare program is a daytime care center for children who must stay home because they are too sick to attend school or day care. KIDCare gives children a bright and fun place to enjoy activities in a safe, medically attentive center.
We welcome children needing post-operative care, with activity restrictions, orthopedic injuries or minor illnesses such as urinary, respiratory or ear infections, asthma or gastroenteritis (not infectious). The center accepts children who have received their first set of immunizations up to age 15.
To protect all our guests, we do not admit children with communicable diseases such as measles, mumps or chicken pox, undiagnosed rashes or anyone with temperatures of 102 degrees or more previously unseen by a physician.
During their stay, children can participate in activities like arts and crafts, watch movies, play video games, take naps or be held and rocked by our staff. Prescribed medications are given by the nursing staff and meals and snacks are provided.
Space is limited and admission to KIDCare is based on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are required. To reserve a space, call KIDCare at (813) 844-7192 within normal hours of operation. Reservations are taken no more than 24 hours in advance.
