Q: Is Tampa General Hospital continuing with recruitment at this time?

A: Absolutely. A fully staffed team continues to be vitally important to TGH operation and patient care. We are committed to bringing on world-class talent to support the organization during this time as well as after the COVID-19 pandemic has subsided.

 

Q: Has the application and interview process changed?

A: Our COVID-19 response has required that we modify operations in almost every area of the organization. The recruitment and hiring processes have experienced some delays as we have redeployed internal TGH talent, and flexed staffing internally. Critical roles that remain available are advertised and under active recruitment.

 

Q:Are you conducting interviews in-person?

A: In alignment with Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, we have significantly modified our visitor protocols on campus at this time. Phone and video interviews will be utilized in lieu of in-person meetings. If you are selected for an interview, our team can assist you in preparing for a virtual interview.

 

Q: What if I don’t feel well on the day of my on-site pre-employment appointment, after I’ve accepted a formal offer of employment?

A: The health and safety of our candidates and team members are our top priorities. If you are experiencing symptoms of illness, please contact your Recruiter to discuss alternative scheduling options.

 

Q: Are the positions you are hiring for required to work on campus or can I work from home?

A: During the COVID-19 outbreak, working from home is highly encouraged for positions with duties that can be accomplished remotely. However, many Tampa General Hospital roles require team members to be on campus. Decisions for modified on- and off-site work schedules will be coordinated between the new hire and the hiring manager. Our patients and community are counting on our team to provide on-site expertise and service.

 

Q: If I am relocating for a position, will I be required to self-quarantine?

A: There are no domestic travel restrictions at this time. Tampa General Hospital is closely monitoring CDC guidelines to adjust protocols as needed to ensure the health and safety of our candidates and team members.

 

Q: What steps are you taking to ensure new team members aren’t exposed to COVID-19 during orientation?

A: Tampa General Hospital has adjusted to a virtual orientation experience and modified hands-on clinical training to uphold our world-class orientation and training process. All new hires will be given detailed orientation information and procedures based upon their unique role and physical work location.

 

Q: What are you doing to protect team members from COVID-19?

A: Our first priority is the health and safety of our team members and patients. All team members undergo a thorough screening and temperature check upon arrival to campus. Protective masks are also required for all team members, patients over the age of 2, and visitors while on-site, in addition to many other protocols including personal protective equipment (PPE). All safety protocols at TGH follow CDC guidelines, including limited visitors on-site, a safe distance between all, frequent hand hygiene, and more. Tampa General Hospital has many negative air pressure rooms to care for COVID-19 patients.  In addition, we have daily safety huddles where status updates from the U.S., State of Florida, and our community are discussed and shared by our internal multidisciplinary leaders. All team members are kept informed on a regular basis through these meetings in addition to frequent and informative communication from our CEO’s office.
