Tampa General Hospital offers a full range of women’s services to meet your
obstetric and gynecologic needs. TGH was named to U.S. News & World Report’s
list of "America’s Best Hospitals" in Gynecology in 2007 and 2008.
Tampa General Hospital’s new Women’s Center is now open. The center has 21
labor/delivery/recovery suites designed to feel more like bedrooms with soft colors,
wood-like floors, wood cabinets for medical equipment and storage, televisions with
DVD-VCR-CD players, and private bathrooms and showers. To
enhance its spa-like theme, each room in the center has a large window with
an expansive view, space for family and a large built-in sofa that can be opened into
a bed.
The Women’s Center has four C-section rooms, four gynecology operating
rooms, an ultrasound suite and an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) laboratory. The
operating rooms are large enough to accommodate staff and equipment for multiple
births. The Women’s Center has two comfortable family lounges – one for the
families of patients in labor and one for families of patients undergoing surgery. A paved patio with trees and plants is
accessible from the Women’s Center and provides additional space for families,
visitors and patients.

You can tour the TGH Women's Center the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month at 1:00 p.m., and the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, except holidays, at 6:00 p.m. Registration is required. Click here to register.
Anticipating the birth of your baby is a very exciting time and there are many
things to take care of before the big day. Our preregistration process allows
you to take care of the details of your hospital stay in advance. Let us know
if your doctor or midwife have any special delivery wishes and we will do our
best to honor them. We recommend that you pre-register approximately two months
prior to giving birth.
The labor and delivery rooms at TGH allow you to remain in one room during the
birth process. Up to two support people are welcome to be by your side during
this very special time.
Following delivery, you’ll be resting in the post partum unit where your baby can stay with you in your room, but the nursery is always available. Our healthcare professionals are happy to answer your
questions and a lactation consultant is available to assist with breastfeeding.
It’s comforting to know that our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where
premature infants and critically ill newborns receive the most advanced care, is
located on the same floor as the Women's Center. Click here for more
information about our NICU.
Since nothing is as precious as your new baby, TGH wants to make his/her very
first car ride a safe experience. An infant car seat is our gift to you to help
ensure your new baby’s safety. You’ll also receive a new diaper bag filled with
baby essentials.
The Women's Center offers childbirth education classes to expectant mothers as
well as other programs designed to help parents care for their babies. Click here
for more information about Tampa General’s Childbirth Education Programs.
This free support group provides new moms the opportunity to discuss issues that
come with being a new mom, share advice and offer support.
