Palliative Care

The palliative care service at TGH offers specialized, interdisciplinary consultation focused on improving the quality of life for TGH inpatients and their families facing serious illness. Our interdisciplinary team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, chaplains, and pharmacists. We offer expertise in treating symptoms such as pain, breathing difficulty, and other distressing conditions. Our chaplains and social workers also address psychosocial and spiritual needs to provide an extra layer of support. TGH’s Palliative Care Service is different than Hospice in that palliative care can support patients throughout all stages of their illness and treatment.

The goal of palliative care is to improve quality of life for our patients by providing relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of serious illness. Our dedication to providing compassionate, world-class care has earned TGH placement on Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals 2022 list, a recognition based on key performance indicators (such as medical outcomes and patient safety), patient satisfaction ratings, and peer recommendations from doctors, nurses, hospital managers, and other healthcare professionals.
