TAMPA GENERAL HOSPITAL REHAB CENTER EARNS FULL THREE-YEAR CARF ACCREDITATION
Tampa (March 13, 2006) -
After three months of waiting, Tampa General’s Rehabilitation Services has received official
notice that it’s been awarded the full three-year accreditation by the Committee on
Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
Specifically, accreditation has been awarded to both adult and pediatric services in the
following programs whose accreditation were up for renewal:
Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program, including Inpatient and Outpatient Services
Comprehensive Inpatient Program
Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Program, including Inpatient and Outpatient Services
Spinal Cord System of Care, including Inpatient and Outpatient Services
Notification comes three months after a five-member CARF survey team visited Tampa General
on Nov. 17 and 18. At the end of that visit, the surveyors had high praise for the hospital
and Rehabilitation Services. CARF’s official report reflected the team’s positive comments.
The CARF report listed numerous strengths and exemplary conformances in all Rehab programs.
The accreditation is good until November 2008.
Rehabilitation Services Director Michael Daniels said he was happy but not surprised at the
survey results.
“We were sure of the three-year accreditation right from the get-go,” he said. “We had full
confidence in the efforts of all TGH staff who helped, directly or indirectly, in the survey process.
“We look forward to the same in 2008, when we may be adding some more programs to get CARF
accreditation,” he added.
This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded
to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the standards
established by CARF. An organization receiving a Three-Year- Accreditation outcome has put
itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors
during an on-site visit that its programs and services are the highest quality, measurable,
and accountable.
