Tampa General will remain open to care for its patients and any victims from a hurricane or other disaster. Since the hospital may have to remain self-sufficient for an unknown period of time, it must be able to provide essential services for patients and staff. To ensure adequate resources for patients and staff, TGH cannot serve as a shelter. For information on special needs shelters in your area call the Hillsborough InfoLine at (813) 272-5900.

Hurricane Preparedness

TGH has taken considerable precautions to ensure the safety of patients and staff.  Steps have been taken to protect the building, maintain communications and provide essential medical services in the event of a major storm.

Information for Patients & Families

All visitors and family members of patients will be asked to leave the hospital once evacuations are announced for Davis Islands, or when local officials advise that travel is becoming dangerous due to wind or flooding.
